Two days to get genuinely comfortable with board-level work — soldering, surface-mounted components and hot-air rework, with the repetition to trust your own hands.
One day shows you the technique; two days builds the confidence. You'll go beyond the charging port into surface-mounted components and hot-air rework, repeating each process until you can do it without the tutorial running in your head.
Iron control, clean joints, and the four-stage charging-port repair, practised until it's reliable.
Surface-mounted components with hot air — preheat, remove, clean, refit — plus fault finding and testing components for value and function.
Not a stock photo — this is our actual micro-soldering training bench in Sheffield, photographed during a recent course. The microscope, iron and boards you see are the ones you train on.
You train on professional tools, and you can walk out with the matching kit: the soldering station, microscope, hot-air rework, flux, power supply and testing gear the board-level course is built around — a full micro soldering bench. Learn on the exact equipment, then start earning at home the very next day — no guessing what to buy.
How many people are on the course?
One-to-one or one-to-two — never a big class. The price is per person, maximum two people, so you get real hands-on time and personal attention from a working engineer.
Do I need any experience?
For this course: none — we teach soldering from scratch.
Are tools provided on the day?
Yes — everything you need is supplied and set up in our Sheffield repair lab. Many people then buy the matching Mike's Micro Soldering Bundle so they can carry on at home on the exact tools they trained on.
Where is the training?
At FoneFunShop, 132 Handsworth Road, Sheffield S9 4AE. Call 0114 243 7800 to check dates and book.
Small, focused, one-to-one or one-to-two training with working engineers — not a lecture hall.
